Working for his grandmother, helping his injured single father on the ranch, these are things that fulfill him. But now he wonders what his future might hold. Especially since everyone else is moving on around him.
But things happen in Abernathy, TX. Johnny gets stranded, Shane's desire to help this guy who blew his mind is strong. After a few weeks in their own bubble of sex and surprising mutual interest, one will find home, the other will find adventure, and both will find that the future is most fun when you stop trying to hold on to your own way.

I needed this book, at this time, more than anyone will ever know. Never have I loved two characters more than Johnny and Shane. They made me laugh, they made me cry and they made me want to bang their heads together to finally see what's right in front of them could be pretty special. Two men who are both trying to find where they belong. Slade, always on the move looking for the next story. No commitments, no attachments, leading a lonely existence. Shane, afraid to leave his home and family to finally live the life he's always wanted. Sometimes, you have to take care of you first before everything else falls into place. Not a lot of angst, some hot and sexy scenes and a HFN ending. Doesn't get any better than that!Product details

Slade edition by Kade Boehme Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Not Shane! This is one of my favorite stories that Kade Boehme has written. I fell in love with all the characters and the real life feeling of the story of two very different lives coming together in the most perfect union. I can only say...More Please <3
I was totally in the mood for a feel good sexy story. Love Kade's writing and Slade was such a surprise and perfect for Shane. The ending was perfect for them. Great read.
Have you ever read a book and thought "this was so damn perfect I wouldn't change a thing?" No? Well read this one because you will. It takes you perfectly through every emotion. You'll smile, you'll cry, you'll sigh, you'll cheer and you'll laugh. It's just everything right.
I told someone that I hadn't read a Kade Boehme book I didn't like. Yep, he's still got a perfect score. Though not as emotionally grabbing as some of his other books, I really enjoyed this sweet love story. Loved the setting of the small Texas town. It was so easy to like these characters. Johnny is just what Shane needs. I found myself rooting for them from the get go. I am looking forward to the next book.
Another great one from one of my go-to authors. I really love Kade's writing and this one is no different. I just feel in love with both of the major characters. Shane was such a wonderful man just trying to figure out his life and in walks Johnny Slade, the gay man's wet dream come to life. Their chemistry sizzles and I had no idea how he was going to resolve the very real dilemma of the logistics of living thousands of miles apart. I'm happy how everything turns out though. My only complaint? As a Texas resident that lives about 45 minutes from Abernathy I kind of wish the geography and facts about the town would have been more accurate. I actually laughed out loud of the thought of New Orleans being 5 hours from Abernathy. Oh if only! If you've never heard of it before there is a saying "The sun has risen and the sun has set and we aren't out of Texas yet!" Suffice it to say the trip from Abernathy to New Orleans would take more than 24 hours. There also isn't a University in Abernathy. But, that's just a Texas girl wanting the Texas parts to be more accurate. It definitely did not change my opinion of the book in any way as my review reflects. Now to go back and read Chance's story. I can't believe I missed one of his books! I thought I had read everything he has written. I'm excited to have a new one to read.
When I finished reading this, I *sighed* because it made me feel good. It has a good old fashioned romantic movie vibe, with the good naughty bits, and I didn't want it to end. There really should be more m/m romantic movies, and this book would translate great on the screen.
Shane and Johnny are two guys who are slightly stuck in a rut, not happy exactly, but not unhappy either, going through the motions of life but maybe not as active participants. Then they meet. And over the course of three weeks, discover some surprisingly meaningful things about themselves and each other. It's a definite feel good story. You'll like the MCs and the supporting characters. Even the setting of Abernathy, TX has a charm of its own. The story has a happy ending, of course, full of hope and promise for the guys and their future.
I can't think of a Kade Boehme story I haven't liked. Well written (and edited), like-able characters you root for and emotionally connect with, charming settings, I could go on.
👍🏻👍🏻
Five Stars! So much to love about Johnny Slade and Shane Moore.
'Slade' is a sweet read by a favorite author of mine, Kade Boehme.
We meet Shane and Johnny deep in the heart of Texas when Johnny is riding through town on his way to an assignment. The two meet at the General in town that Shane helps his grandmother run. We soon learn that Shane helps a lot of people in his family, almost to a fault.
Their attraction is immediate but neither of them is looking for anything. Shane because he had family obligations, and Johnny because he doesn't like to stay places.
I love the way Kade handled the sweet romance between the two of them, as well as the slow build of angst as they both come to realize this quick, thrown together by chance, romance means more than either is willing to admit.
A definite re-read for me and I highly recommend it.
