In a moment of desperation two strangers make a wish, only to discover that sometimes a wish can take you down an unexpected path. WHEN WISHES COLLIDE, Book #3 in the WISH Series, is an emotionally compelling and suspenseful contemporary romance by #1 NY Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy.

Adrianna Cavello's life changed in an instant when a break-in at her restaurant took the life of her boyfriend and left her too traumatized to return to work. Months later, with everything she's ever wanted on the line, Adrianna makes a wish by tossing a coin into a fountain known for making miracles.

Wyatt Randall is also in need of a miracle. Two years earlier, his ex-wife kidnapped their daughter, and Wyatt is desperate to find his little girl. A new lead raises his hopes, but quickly fizzles out. When his coin clashes with another, he sees what little hope he has flying away.

Adrianna and Wyatt soon learn that they have more in common than two coins that collided. In fighting for the lives they lost, they must learn how to trust again. Only then will they discover that meeting each other might not be what they wished for, but exactly what they need.

(Each book in the WISH Series is a standalone story, but shares the common theme of wishes.)

I loved this story. I really had a problem with the one star reviewer. He plays the victim of a kidnap....are you kidding me. To have one's child taken by a drug addicted female with no feelings for anyone but herself and then subject the child to the life she was living makes me want to wring her neck and enjoy doing it. I can't begin to imagine the anguish that a parent would go through losing a child this way. I almost lose my mind when my pet is lost for a few hours. But a child? I think I would lose my mind.

I loved this hero. He took a lot more responsibility for his marriage failure than I thought he deserved. No one held a gun to his ex-wife's head and made her take pills, or kidnap his child and go on the run with her, or leave her on the streets of San Francisco while she was out doing god's knows what. I was beyond delighted when he put her in jail!

The heroine has had a traumatic event in her life. They meet at a wishing fountain and even tho they do not believe in wishes coming true they decide to toss a coin in and make a wish anyway. I was afraid this was going to turn into one of those fairy tales where the good fairy grants the wish, etc. But it was not that at all. Two very troubled people meet and help each other to see their way to moving on with their lives. It was great how one's advice to the other came back to haunt them in dealing with their own issues. I LOVED this story. Great book and very entertaining read. I highly recommend it.

Using tragic events, Barbara Freethy brings an unlikely couple together. Adrianna, a chef, grew up on the streets, and is very insecure and guarded. Wyatt, a cop, comes from a life of plenty.
Adrianna’s boyfriend is killed during a robbery. Wyatt’s six year old daughter was kidnapped by his ex-wife and he hunted for her for over two years.

They stopped at a wishing well and tossed a coin in, something that was probably out of character for them both. Adrianna wished for help getting her past the fear of witnessing her friend being shot. Wyatt wished to find his daughter.
When they tossed the coins, they clinked in mid-air, one fell in the well, the other flipped out on the ground. So their story begins.

Even though the ending was predictable, the story is well written, and it held my attention. I wanted to see how the author brought the events to a close.

I would recommend this book to people who like reading romantic mysteries.
Adriana makes a wish in a fountain and another person makes a wish on the other side of the same fountain and the cons hit one another and then they meet. He's a police offi8er and his ex wife kidnapped his daughter and he had been searching for her for years. Adriana has helped some children who were living off the streets and he was investigating a shooting at the restaurant where she works.. It so hap0ens that one of the children was his daughter and now he's on a mission to find her with Adriana help. read the book and find out if they find her or not.
Wyatt and Adrianna are both standing on opposite sides of a public fountain in San Francisco as they each toss a quarter into the air, desperate for their wish will come true. Wyatt's young daughter was kidnapped months before and is still missing, Adrianna lost her almost-fiance when the restaurant they work in is robbed and he's shot. She is steps outside the back door when it happens and holds his bleeding body as he dies. She is too distraught to return to work, taking a sabbatical, but her boss wants her back. Wyatt and Adrainna are both hurting and hoping for their wishes to come true, when their quarters collide in the air. Unsure which went into the fountain and which is knocked away, they approach one another and chat briefly. Later they discover that Adrianna may have seen Wyatt's missing daughter with a couple of homeless kids that beg for food outside the restaurant. This discovery leads to their teaming up to try to locate the children and hopefully Wyatt's missing daughter.

I'm writing this review a couple months after finishing the book and I can't remember all of the details. The writing was good, the story interesting enough, but not one of my favorites.
Let me begin this by saying I love Barbara Freehy, and she is the author who gave me faith in self-published authors. Her writing style is lyrical and her stories keep readers turning pages. If you are new to this author you will likely rate this much higher than me, because she is an incredible author with fun, easy to read storylines. Unfortunately, this book was nowhere near as good as her others (not just in the Wish series, but all the way back to her first novel ). I lost interest midway through and really never felt enthusiastic about reading it. I only did so in hopes it would end on a big bang.

Freehy's other novels set in San Francisco certainly depict the city in exquisite fashion whereas this one does not. I've been there many times and know it well, but for readers who have not, it would have been nice for to been given more of Mr. Freehy's usual vivid descriptions so they could better experience the feel of this amazing city.

I wasn't crazy about Freehy's character introspection, which cluttered the overall storyline for me. Another problem I had was that the book description wasn't in sync with the story. The main character was interesting enough, however Ms Freehy failed to give her a full backstory as she normally provides for her characters.

I'm sure many first time readers will enjoy When Wishes Collide, but if you want to feel blown-away by an author, go read one of her earlier novels. I highly recommend Golden Lies (so does BookList, Publishers Weekly, and various other reputable review sources). There are many great novels by this talented author, but this isn't my favorite by a long shot!
